Volunteer with FFAR

We love our Volunteers and appreciate the time, energy and enthusiasm they contribute to helping homeless cats and dogs.

  • We want our Volunteers to have the opportunity to participate in the operation of our rescue group so we provide the option to vote on the election of our Board of Directors.  FFAR is called a "member-based group".

  •  A Volunteer will have the option of being a voting member. This requires a small annual donation and approval by our Board, or you can volunteer as a non-voting member for no annual fee.  We will be happy to provide further information upon request.

  • Click on the button to submit a Volunteer Application if you would like to help our cats and dogs.

  • Please do not call us or send emails before submitting the Volunteer Form.

  • Please note we are unable to accommodate community service hours at this time.

  • If you have a minor (under 18) who will be volunteering with you (the parent or guardian) please complete the

PARENT GUARDIAN PERMISSION FORM

in addition to the standard Volunteer Form linked below.

Volunteers needed for FFAR Cat Program

We are looking for volunteers who love cats to fill the positions listed below.  You would be joining a team of enthusiastic and upbeat volunteers who are committed to making a difference in the lives of homeless cats and dogs.

Please submit a Volunteer Form if you have not already done so.

We are unable to accommodate community service hours for these volunteer positions.

1.  ADOPTION COUNSELING AT McKINNEY PETSMARTS - Custer/121 and/or Hwy38/75
Cat adoption events take place from 12- 4 every Saturday and Sunday at the McKinney Petsmart adoption centers.  We are currently looking for Adoption Counselors for both adoption centers.
An Adoption Counselor's duties include talking to and screening potential adopters and taking care of the kitties (cleaning boxes, freshening food and water, as well as giving lots of love). An ideal Adoption Counselor is outgoing and easy to talk to; s/he should also have experience with and knowledge about cats.  We provide training and a flexible schedule.
Adoption Counselors must be at least 21 years of age.

2. CLEANING ADOPTION CENTER CAGES AT McKINNEY PETSMART
Cleaners are responsible for cleaning litter boxes, freshening food and water, and ensuring all cat cages are clean and presentable.   They also socialize the cats, making sure they are given plenty of affection and play time.
If you don't have time to play with the kitties, the actual cleaning time would be about 30 minutes but if you are cleaning and playing at the same time it can take as much time as you can spare - the cats will love you for it.  We have regular morning and evening cleaners as well as substitute cleaners.
Cleaners must be at least 18 years of age.
